Council’s Cornelious Burke Named Sacto 40 Under 40

This week (Oct. 17) the Sacramento Business Journal honored Sacramento’s top young leaders at its 40 Under 40 celebration, and the Bay Area Council’s own Cornelious Burke was among the class. Each year the publication recognizes individuals under 40 for their outstanding professional accomplishments and community involvement — these honorees reflect the drive, commitment and passion that make Sacramento great.

Cornelious manages the Council’s Sacramento office, overseeing state policy and legislation and serving as one of the Council’s liaisons to the state Legislature and the Governor’s office. The Council opened its capitol outpost in 2013 to better and more directly engage with state elected and policy leaders on a robust policy agenda aimed at improving California’s business climate. This year marked one of the organization’s best legislative years yet in Sacramento, scoring major wins in all but one lead policy areas—including housing, transportation, water and workforce development.
