Webinar 11/9: Hear from the Doctors Devising California’s COVID Vaccine Plan
As multiple potential COVID-19 vaccines enter larger-scale efficacy trials, hopes are growing for a release of one or more vaccines sometime in early 2021. Along with hopes for a vaccine, many questions are also arising about the safety, availability and distribution of any vaccines. To answer those questions, the Bay Area Council Healthcare Committee is hosting a webinar on Monday, Nov. 9 from 10-11:30 a.m. with three members of California’s COVID-19 Drafting Guidelines Workgroup, which is working to develop California-specific guidance for the prioritization and allocation of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Our speakers include Dr. Randy Bergen, Immunization Lead for Kaiser Permanente Northern California; Dr. Jeffrey Silvers, Sutter Health Immunization Lead; and Bernard Lo, Professor of Medicine Emeritus and Director of the Program in Medical Ethics Emeritus at UCSF. We’ll also hear from them on the science behind a vaccine, California’s decision to vet any vaccine before distribution, and the important ethical considerations of distribution.
