Keeping China and California Connected
The Bay Area is the undisputed economic gateway to China and the greater Asia-Pacific region. And for more than a decade, the Bay Area Council has been the leading business organization working to deepen and expand trade and investment ties with China. Leveraging our extensive network of relationships with top government, business and academic leaders on both sides of the Pacific, the Council has guided many companies in successfully accessing this exciting marketplace, growing their business and establishing valuable partnerships on a range of important issues. We have also played a valuable role in bringing Chinese investment to California and the Bay Area.
Our two offices and expert staff in Shanghai and Beijing offer unparalleled access to China’s major economic centers and provide the knowledge essential for navigating China’s complex system. The Council’s extensive experience and networks in China were a major reason the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) partnered with us to open the California-China Office of Trade and Investment in Shanghai in 2013. In 2019, Bay Area Council has become a member of GO-Biz China Trade & Investment Network, multi-organizational partnership focused on expanding California’s trade and investment efforts in China.
In addition to the many business development services we offer, the Council also produces incisive research and analysis on the Chinese economy and its connections with California and the Bay Area as well as hosting numerous delegations and other convening to promote better understanding and cooperation between our two countries.
