Statement: Improve and Expand ACA, Don’t Eliminate It
The Bay Area Council released a statement today (June 26) in response to a legal brief the Trump Administration filed Thursday calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to invalidate the Affordable Care Act.
“At a time when we should be working to expand access to affordable health care for more Americans, trying to undo the Affordable Care Act makes little sense,” said Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Bay Area Council. “Under the ACA, California has successfully expanded health insurance coverage to millions of residents and provided them access to vital health care services at a time when we are confronting one of the greatest health crises we’ve ever experienced. Rather than doing away with the ACA, we should be working to improve it, expand it and ensure businesses and residents get access to the high-quality, cost-effective health care everyone deserves.”
