All Aboard Bay Area Transit
The Bay Area Council is proud to support the newly-launched All Aboard Bay Area Transit campaign, a one-stop shop for information regarding transit service, schedule updates, safety protocols and tips for passengers. All 27 Bay Area transit agencies are participating in the campaign, spearheaded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and are collaborating to deliver services that will restart our region and get people where they need to go.
The Council also applauds Caltrain and AC Transit for adding additional service. Starting Monday, August 30, Caltrain service will surpass its pre-pandemic levels, offering 104 trains per weekday, including hourly all-stop local trains throughout the day and the return of the Baby Bullet express trains. As an additional incentive to riders, Caltrain is discounting all of its non-Go Pass fares by 50% during the month of September. In early August, AC Transit added additional operating hours on local and Transbay lines, reactivated Supplementary Service to schools, and added larger buses on popular lines.
Recent analysis from the Bay Area Council Economic Institute shows that Bay Bridge traffic has returned to pre-pandemic levels across all hours of the day. As transit frequencies increase and gradually return to pre-pandemic levels, the Council encourages our members, partners and friends to consider taking public transit when feeling safe to do so. Increased transit ridership means less congestion on Bay Area roads, less carbon emissions in the Bay Area atmosphere, and more accessible commutes for Bay Area workers.
