Celebrating Regional Water Transit and Bay Crossings
The Bay Area Council Water Transit Subcommittee held its inaugural 2020 meeting Tuesday (Feb. 25), celebrating Council CEO Jim Wunderman’s recent appointment as Chair of the Water Emergency Transit Authority (WETA) and the 20th anniversary of water transit champion Bay Crossings. A veritable who’s who of water transit and other transportation leaders attended the event, representing a broad cross section of government, business, and water transit advocacy. Bay Crossing magazine was founded by Bobby Winston in 2000 and has served as the go-to source of information, advocacy and history on water transit and other issues involving the bay and waterfront.
The subcommittee also heard from Assemblymember David Chiu on how the continuing work to build out a robust regional water transit system can help address the region’s congestion problems. He also praised the work WETA and the Bay Area Council are doing to expand water transit service to every corner of the region. Special thanks to Bobby Winston for his partnership and years of advocacy supporting water transit. To engage in the Council’s water transit work, please contact Policy Manager Kelli Fallon.
