Council Backs Push for Action on Infrastructure
The Bay Area Council has joined over 300 organizations to support a campaign led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) to “Build by the Fourth of July,” urging Congress to enact a sweeping package by July 4, 2021 to rebuild America’s crumbling infrastructure. The coalition brings together a diverse group of transportation, policy, labor and business organizations to call for legislation that will:
- Repair and update our crumbling infrastructure
- Stimulate our economy and create middle-class sustaining jobs
- Address climate change
- Promote fiscally and environmentally responsible policies
- Improve federal project approvals
- Address the digital divide
In a letter to the U.S. Congress members, the coalition highlights their unity in the benefits of comprehensive legislation that will “repair our crumbling roads, bridges and transit and the current gridlock in our major economic hubs that harm our productivity, global competitiveness and quality of life.” To engage in the Bay Area Council’s transportation and infrastructure work, please contact Senior Vice President Gwen Litvak.
