Opinion: Driverless Technology Can Make Streets Safer

With a key decision looming by the California Public Utilities (CPUC) to allow expanded operation of driverless cars in San Francisco, Waymo co-CEO Tekendra Mawakana this week penned a compelling commentary in the San Francisco Chronicle on theconsiderable safety benefits of autonomous vehicles. Waymo, which currently operates driverless vehicles in the city, is seeking permission to begin charging for rides. The Bay Area Council, which counts Waymo among our members, is advocating for the CPUC to rule in favor of Waymo’s application.
