Wunderman Takes Gavel at First WETA Meeting
Bay Area Council CEO Jim Wunderman on Thursday (Jan. 9) presided over his first Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) meeting as Chair following his appointment by Gov. Gavin Newsom on January 1, 2020. In kicking off the meeting, Wunderman thanked Gov. Newsom for appointing him Chair and having the confidence in him to lead the organization. He also expressed his deep gratitude to former Chair Adm. Jody Breckenridge for her leadership in expanding water transit and helping make WETA the robust organization that it is today. And he shared his excitement for continuing this work with the Board of Directors, Executive Director Nina Rannells and the entire WETA professional team.
Wunderman was first appointed to the WETA Board of Directors in 2015 and his service reflects both his personal vision and that of the Council for creating a world-class water transit system. Wunderman encouraged an active role by public stakeholders in helping move WETA forward and realizing its 20-year plan to expand ferry service to all corners of the Bay Area.
