Biden SOTU Highlights Importance of Apprenticeships

President Biden in his State of the Union on Tuesday (March 1) underscored the critical role our workforce will play in the powering country’s economic recovery and upgrading America’s infrastructure. Making the point that our approach to workforce training is at a turning point, Biden said we need to be “giving workers a fair shot, provide more training and apprenticeships. Hire them based on skills not just their degrees.” His words were music to our ears.

The Bay Area Council last year launched the Northern California Apprentice Network to expand apprenticeships and work-based learning programs in new industries to improve career pathways and access to jobs, with specific focus on historically underrepresented and underserved communities.
