Council Member Accenture Commits to Big Expansion of Apprenticeship Hiring
Last week (Jan. 13), Accenture made massive strides in increasing apprenticeship opportunities within their recruitment strategy. Committing to filling 20% of its US entry level roles with candidates from its apprenticeship program is the kind of action that can change the landscape of training and recruitment, ultimately opening the door to job seekers who do not have a four-year degree. So far, 80% of Accenture’s apprentices joined the company without a four-year college degree.
The Council has long supported apprenticeships as a key workforce solution that can increase access to well-paid opportunities and incorporate company-specific skillsets into apprentice training programs. In partnership with Accenture, Aon, Adobe, Apprenti, LinkedIn, Greater Sacramento Economic Council, SF Chamber of Commerce, TechSF, and Twilio the Council has launched the Northern California Apprentice Network to expand the number of apprenticeship opportunities in new industries in Northern California and make them a mainstream form of training and hiring future talent.
