CSU East Bay President Morishita Announces Retirement
Longtime Bay Area Council Board member Leroy Morishita this week announced his retirement after a 40-year career with the California State University system, including the last eight as President of CSU East Bay. The Council extends its hearty congratulations and gratitude to Dr. Morishita for his great leadership, partnership and support in educating the Bay Area’s workforce. Under his leadership, over 40,000 students received diplomas, including many first-generation students.
In a statement announcing his retirement, Dr. Morishita emphasized that his goal was “to work collaboratively to teach, to envision the future and to provide the support services needed to assist our students to dream, soar, be successful in their endeavors and become socially responsible citizens in the world.” It was that perspective that made Dr. Morishita such a valuable partner in contributing to the Council’s Workforce for the Future initiative.
